Free Breakfast Has a Price for Students

I was not one of those kids who ditched class, so I take perverse pleasure in hearing about the students were caught ditching school to take advantage of Denny’s breakfast offer on Feb. 9.

Forty six students from West Warwick High School in Rhode Island ditched class that day and went to Denny’s. Unfortunately for them, the Assistant Principal discovered the quixotic plot. She actually went to the restaurant and told the students to go to school. Obedient student received a suspension mark on their records. The more willful students, who didn’t go to school after being caught, received two-day suspensions.

With principals like that, who needs truancy officers?
